Your data, handled with care
This notice explains how Nyambura Maina & Company Advocates (“the firm”, “we”) collects, uses and protects your personal data, in line with Kenya’s Data Protection Act, 2019. Last updated: 5 October 2026. [Ashley to review before launch.]
Who we are
Nyambura Maina & Company Advocates, Mbandu Complex, 3rd Floor, Karen, off Langata Road, P.O. Box 4038 – 00506, Nairobi. Phone 0799 779 275. Email nyamburamainacompanyadvocates@gmail.com. We are the data controller for the personal data described here.
What we collect
- Details you give us when you book a consultation or contact us: name, phone, email, the practice area and a short description of your matter.
- For clients: identification (ID or passport, KRA PIN), contact details, documents and information about your matter, and billing records.
- Basic technical data needed to run this website securely, such as your browser type. We use one cookie to remember the site’s display theme.
Why we use it
- To respond to your enquiry and arrange a consultation (your consent, and steps before a contract).
- To act for you, run conflict checks and keep proper client records (contract and legal obligations).
- To meet our professional obligations as advocates, including anti-money-laundering checks where they apply.
Confidentiality
Everything you tell us about your matter is protected by advocate–client confidentiality. Only the advocate and the staff who need it to do their work can see it.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We share it only where needed to act for you — for example with courts, registries, or other parties’ advocates — or where the law requires. Service providers that host our systems process data on our instructions and under contract.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become matters are deleted within [12] months. Client files are kept for the period required by professional rules and the law, then securely destroyed.
Your rights
You may ask to see the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it where the law allows, or to object to its use. Write to nyamburamainacompanyadvocates@gmail.com. You may also complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.
Cookies
This site uses one functional cookie, “theme”, which remembers the display version chosen by the firm. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Not legal advice
Content on this website is general information, not legal advice. Contacting us does not by itself create an advocate–client relationship.
